Fat Grafting
Fat grafting is a procedure in which the surgeon removes unwanted fat from an area of the body and reinjects it to help augment or correct an area of soft tissue deficiency, such as deep folds around the mouth or sagging cheeks, or for augmentation of the breasts or buttocks. This minimally invasive procedure is where fat is removed typically from the abdomen, buttock, or thighs and then processed. The fat is purified and then transferred to smaller syringes for reinjection into the target area.
As mentioned above, fat can correct depressions or deep wrinkles in the face or can be used to increase the size of the buttocks or breasts slightly. at has been called the ideal filler since it is long-lasting, non-allergenic, and easily recognized by the body as being identical to the body’s tissues. While fat grafting can provide two benefits, by removing fat in an unwanted area and placing it in an area of deficiency, no surgical procedure is without risk, and the risks of fat grafting include contour deformity or asymmetry, bruising or failure of the grafted fat to reestablish a blood supply, or in rare cases, infection.
