Skincare products can contain harsh ingredients that can cause and/or irritate dry skin. Go for gentle, unscented products that are designed for sensitive skin. Products such as soap, body wash, face wash, toner, and moisturizers can contain various drying ingredients such as alcohol, fragrance, retinoids, or alpha-hydroxy acid. We also recommend using hypoallergenic products and unscented laundry detergent. When our skin is dry and raw, even clothes and laundry detergent can be irritating.
Creams and ointments should be applied immediately after washing. Doing so immediately locks in all the moisture from your shower before your skin dries. Moisturize a few minutes after a shower, bath, or washing your hands or face to trap in that much-needed moisture. Don’t forget your lips!
